THE PROGRAMME

Our simplest bushcraft and camping package – held over a period of just over 24 hours.  A gentle introduction to wild living, using large canvas shelters in a secluded woodland site, yet with easy access to vehicles, buildings, etc.

The expedition begins with walk to camp. The children will navigate either with standard OS maps or their own hand drawn versions for and extra challenge!

After this short trek we arrive at the woodland site. Then working as a team we prepare our shelters. These may be simple canvas canopies in good weather or more robust tepees if poor weather is forecast.

When we have settled in, we can then relax with a pancake and a drink. While there is time to play and explore very small groups will have the chance to work with knives and hazel rods to make toasting forks.

When all the forks are made the children are divided into small groups. Then with their instructor, we prepare a woodland pizza from scratch using our own unique method.

After this we collect wood and light their cooking fires. When the fires are going well the teams get cooking. We will also get to try our famous bushcraft broth which often will have some wild ingredients.

After washing up, there is time to relax, play and chat. Later, a hot chocolate and then clean teeth and bed.

The morning begins with a slow start, taking in the new day, then breakfast. There is normally time to explore and learn more about camping and the local wildlife.

We have lunch and break camp and take short route back to the transport.
