I am the joint founder and Programme Manager for Young Spirit. I was inspired by my father who gave me a lifelong passion for teaching and outdoor living. I am a keen climber, making first ascents of rock routes in the South West. I am an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute of Outdoor Learning and have over twenty five years' experience of working in Outdoor Education.
I am one of the founders of Spirit of Adventure which was established over 20 years ago. I have travelled extensively and was a member of some of the big Himalayan mountain expeditions, such as Everest and Makalu. I have led groups all over the world and have made first ascents in the Himalaya and Greenland. My particular experience is working with groups with special needs.
Growing up in north west Ireland I have always loved playing outside, be it the sea or the mountains and everything in between. I have worked in Outdoor Education for the past 15 years and I am an Accredited Practitioner of the Institute for Outdoor Learning. I am committed to the development of young people.
With over 15 years of experience working in the industry I have developed many skills and interests. These can range from mountaineering, climbing, kayaking and biking. Making fires and cooking in the rain is a speciality!!! I particularly enjoy watching the young participants discover these experiences for the first time.
I run the office at Young Spirit and am likely to be your main point of contact for any Young Spirit enquiry. Away from work I am actively involved in education , I am currently Chair of Governors at a local primary school and a Director of a large multi academy trust in Devon.
Young Spirit is committed to delivering the highest standard of adventure-
The activities are only led by mature, experienced, qualified staff, who are keen to make sure participants are having fun while gaining maximum benefit from their experience.
I attended Duchy Collage to study Adventure Education and soon afterwards joined the Spirit of Adventure team. I enjoy expeditions travelling light with tent and stoves, whether it be walking in the mountains or paddling long distances in my sea kayak. I am so pleased when I can give my Young Spirit groups a similar opportunity to have a taste of those rewarding expedition experiences.
I have worked in outdoor education/activities in the UK and abroad, in HR and now combine both with duties on the Raleigh Estate. I have a passion for enabling personal development.
My name is Monty and I am an English Springer Spaniel. I am the one who is really in charge round here! When I’m not running Young Spirit I mostly like to jump in water or mud. I love my work, love children and will love you if you take me for a walk!
After many years working for the local council I ended up in waste education. 3 years ago I started a new career working in the Outdoors and I love it. I really enjoy meeting new people and watching them experience all the fabulous places we get to take them. As a mother of two teenagers and keeper of two dogs, life is pretty busy. I have much to learn both outdoors and in but am really enjoying the challenge of it all.
I have always worked with people and made the life changing decision to start working in the outdoor industry in 2011 aged 27. I am passionate about the outdoors and love to inspire others to take advantage of, enjoy and learn from the beauty around us.
My name is Bramble. I am a Sprocker from Lancashire. I moved south when I was 10 weeks old. I love to help around camp, mainly collecting lost socks and gloves.
