The Young Spirit Philosophy
Something for everyone
Young Spirit provides safe enjoyable activities that are accessible to all, while offering varying levels of challenge to suit all those taking part.
High quality staff
We are committed to delivering the highest standard of adventure-based education. The activities are only led by mature, experienced, qualified staff, who are keen to make sure participants are having fun while gaining maximum benefit from their experience.
Journey based programmes
Young Spirit specialise in expedition-based programmes, all our main programmes include a short journey. Either on foot or by canoe we feel this frames the experience and adds authenticity. The programme may also include climbing, abseiling, bush craft, navigation, environmental studies and always problem solving and team working skills.
Getting out there
Staying in a bunk house or visiting wilder areas encourages us to rely on fewer of the conveniences of modern life and can give us new perspectives on more familiar environments. However we take great pride in making our trips comfortable, even providing a few little luxuries along the way.
Reflection is the key
As the children and staff take part in the activities there are many opportunities to learn and grow. We are keen to encourage this and programmes include time for reflection and discussion. Some of our programmes have more formal sessions planned, where we use a range of techniques to process the experience. In finding ways to apply these experiences to our day-to-day lives outdoor education find its true purpose.
Our objective
We aim to give the opportunity to develop valuable life skills. In particular, being able identify personal strengths and weaknesses, to have the agility of thought to see where they best fit in to a particular group and the resilience to act on those insights.
We really believe we can offer an exciting programme to suit all needs, please feel free to contact us to discuss how we could provide a quality outdoor experience for your school
