Forest Expedition

This is our shortest package being held over a period of just over 24hours, making it ideal for a first trip away. The trip is a gentle introduction to wild living, using large canvas shelters in a secluded woodland site, yet with easy access to vehicles, buildings, etc.

The expedition begins with each member constructing a wishbone pack to carry some of their kit. After a short trek we arrive at the woodland site. Then working as a team we put up the shelters and then relax with a pancake and a drink. The children are divided into smaller groups and with their instructor, collect wood and light their cooking fires. When the fires are going well the teams prepare food and get cooking. They will need something to eat with, so under supervison they carve a simple spoon. After washing up, there is time to relax and chat. Later, a hot chocolate and then clean teeth and bed. The morning begins with a slow start, taking in the new day, then breakfast. There is normally time to explore and learn more about camping and the local wildlife. We have lunch and break camp, trekking back to meet our transport.
